This specific lot is a regional blend from producers throughout the Caranavi area. Every Wednesday and Saturday, producers from different parts of Caranavi gather in town to sell their coffee at around 50% humidity, a state locally known as “Mote”, a Quechua word that refers to boiled corn commonly eaten here.
Producers choose to sell their coffee at this stage for different reasons: some have very small production volumes, others are not able to dry the coffee themselves, and for many it provides early financing to cover harvest and processing costs. The coffee is collected by an association in Caranavi and then sold within the same day, since at this humidity level there is only a 12 to 24-hour window to allocate the coffee for further drying. Producers will blend their lots together for ease of transport and making selling the coffee easier.

Roasted in small batches
Roasted here at Waresley Park Estate, Bean Theory coffee embodies our dedication to flavour.
Each batch is carefully roasted on the estate to bring out the distinct character of every bean, from the first crack to the final cup. You may even catch the rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee drifting across the courtyard: that's our head roaster, Andrea, at work. Fresh, balanced and full of depth, it's coffee made the way it should be: slow, thoughtful and rooted in Waresley Park.
